Transform Your Next Bath Into A Healing Ritual

Updated: Feb 3, 2023

Since ancient times, cultures around the world have recognized the spiritual and therapeutic properties of water. Whether submerging oneself in healing thermal springs or simply soaking in our tub at home, bathing is a gentle act of self-care that allows us to take a break from the busyness of life while the water lulls us into a state of relaxation.

We all know we feel different after a bath than we did before the bath. That is because bathing does more than ease sore muscles and cleanse the skin - it cleanses our minds and spirits as well. We can enhance the experience by lighting candles, pouring ourselves a glass of wine or a cup of herbal tea, adding aromatherapy scents, healing bath salts, nourishing oils, or gentle music. And when we add conscious intent, we turn a regular soak in the tub into a potent healing ritual with which we can ground ourselves, heal inner turmoil, open creative channels, and gain deeper insights.

Before you begin, plan your bath for a time when you will be free from distractions and allow yourself at least 20 minutes. Next, as you draw your bath, set your intention. For instance, your intention may be to ease stress and anxiety, gain clarity and insight, or shed a dark mood and regain your proper balance. Then light your candles, add aromatherapy salts or oils, or other ritual enhancers of your choice, and submerge yourself into the warm and soothing water. You can meditate and practice being present with yourself and your body, you can ponder questions and concerns you may have, or you can simply let your mind wander. A bathing ritual is a deeply personal activity and each of us must tailor it to suit our own preferences and intents.

Jezebel Apothecary has created a new line of Ritual Bath Salts that are specially formulated to enhance your bathing rituals. They are made from Epsom salts, sea salts, Himalayan salts, a tiny sprinkling of herbs, and essential oils specially selected for their aromatherapy benefits. You can choose from Relaxation for de-stressing, Awakening for gaining clarity and vitality, and Spirit Raising for elevating your mood and unblocking creativity.
